Kate Middleton has been spotted breaking an unwritten rule for royals while posing with a royal fan. After the man approached and put his arm around her, the Princess of Wales reciprocated, breaking the unwritten rule of limiting contact to a handshake. Before smiling for the camera, Kate was seen speaking with him during the official visit she made with husband Prince William to Scarborough. One of the teens who was lucky to meet with the royals to speak about mental health shared a surprising revelation about what the couple were really like. “I thought they’d be more posh but they were very down to earth,” he said. In the wake of the Queen’s death in September, Meghan Markle was spotted being hugged and kissed by royal fans, while Sophie, Countess of Wessex, was photographed hugging a young boy during a vigil. While there aren’t any official rules for how royals behave while greeting members of the public, a handshake has historically been the extent of contact made. Grant Harold, a former royal butler, told <a href="https://www.ok.co.uk/lifestyle/prince-william-broke-protocol-intentional-27659169" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OK!</a> that at most “you could look but you couldn’t touch”. “If you met a royal, you could look at them and if they offered you a handshake you were to accept it,” he told the outlet. “That was a lot to do with the mystique surrounding the family but also for security reasons, too." Grace under pressure: Princess Kate heckled in Ireland

Princess Kate was the subject of a heckler in Northern Ireland, where she was greeting crowds after visiting a suicide prevention charity. Footage has emerged of the Princess of Wales shaking hands with the heckler, who filmed herself telling the royal that “Ireland belongs to the Irish”. “Nice to meet you but it would be better if it was when you were in your own country,” the woman said. A day after <a rel="noopener" href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/movies/royals-hit-the-red-carpet-at-bond-world-premiere" target="_blank">gracing the red carpet</a> premiere of No Time To Die, Prince William and Kate Middleton have made a <a rel="noopener" href="https://honey.nine.com.au/royals/prince-william-kate-middleton-duchess-of-cambridge-northern-ireland/3073b11b-6622-49c2-b939-55f4829b6e40" target="_blank">series of appearances</a> in Northern Island. During their first visit to Derry-Londonderry, the couple made a stop at the petting zoo on Ulster University’s Magee Campus, where Kate held a tarantula named Charlotte in the palm of her hand. “A surprise guest appearance from Charlotte the tarantula,” the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote on social media. Prince William appeared less enthused and seemed to keep his distance from the arachnid in photos. He also joked that Kate’s bright purple suit prompted the spider to be unusually animated. “Maybe she’s not so keen on purple, or maybe she thinks you’re a flower,” he quipped. Instead, the Duke of Cambridge was spotted holding a snake, admitting that his eldest son would have loved it. “George is obsessed with snakes, he’s going to be so upset he missed this,” William said of the eight-year-old. The royal couple then made a stop at the Student Union, which was hosting a “Culture Shock” event, and sampled some local treats, as well as whiskey and Guinness. The Duke and Duchess then played a game with the students that saw them attempt to pronounce Irish words. “I’m going to have another drink, I’m not doing very well at this,” William joked. The pair also met with some nursing students they had spoken to earlier this year, then kicked a football around with City of Derry Rugby players, coaches, and volunteers involved in the Sport Uniting Communities initiative. Duchess Kate gets candid about motherhood in new interview

Duchess Kate has spoken up on her experiences with motherhood in a candid interview. Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on the <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/happy-mum-happy-baby/id1277078956">Happy Mum, Happy Baby</a> podcast, the Duchess of Cambridge said her struggle with hyperemesis – or severe nausea and vomiting – led her to decide to hypnobirth all three of her children. “I saw the power of it, really – the meditation and the deep breathing and things like that – that they teach you in hypnobirthing when I was really sick and actually I realised that this was something that I could take control of, I suppose, during labour. It was hugely powerful,” the 38-year-old said. She said the chronic morning sickness made her pregnancies difficult – and not just for herself, but also for her husband Prince William. “It was definitely a challenge. Not just for me, but also for your loved ones around you,” she said. “Being pregnant and having a newborn baby and things like that, impacts everybody in the family. “William didn’t feel he could do much to help and it’s hard to see you’re suffering without actually being able to do anything about it.” Kate also said presenting her newborn babies to the press outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London was a “slightly terrifying” experience. “Both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about and you know we’re hugely grateful for the support that the public had shown us, and actually for us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important,” she said. “But equally it was coupled with a newborn baby, and inexperienced parents, and the uncertainty of what that held, so there were all sorts of mixed emotions.” The Duchess also admitted she struggled with “mum guilt” from balancing parenting with her other responsibilities. “All the time… Even this morning, George and Charlotte were like, ‘Mummy, how could you possibly not be dropping us off at school this morning?’ No, it’s a constant challenge.” Podcast host Fletcher said she did not expect the Duchess to be so open in the interview. “I love hearing her very honest answers, how articulate and intelligent she is about early years... and how playful she is as well when she’s talking about her own kids.” Kate’s appearance came after the release of her survey <a href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a30613232/kate-middleton-survey-uk-tour-announcement/">5 Big Questions on the Under 5s</a>, which sought to gain more information on the British public’s understanding of early child development.

Duchess Kate reveals Prince Louis’ first words

Duchess Kate has revealed some of Prince Louis’s first words – and they were inspired by her favourite cooking icon. Speaking on the BBC Christmas special <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a30221797/mary-berry-inspired-prince-louis-first-words/" target="_blank">A Berry Royal Christmas</a>, The Duchess of Cambridge said one of her youngest child’s first words was “Mary”, referring to British cook and food writer Mary Berry. “One of Louis’s first words was ‘Mary’, because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf,” the duchess told Berry. “Children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books, and he would say, ‘That’s Mary Berry’... so he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.” In the program, the 84-year-old TV chef joined the duchess and her husband Prince William as they made visits to various UK charities. “They don’t just arrive and shake a few hands make a few smiles and a speech, they want to get involved, and they want to see what they can do,” Berry said of the royal couple. “And it isn’t just one visit, they come back again and ask for the results and they remember who they spoke to last time. I think that’s remarkable.”

Duchess Kate receives new royal duty from Queen Elizabeth

After 65 years in the role, Queen Elizabeth II has passed on a royal duty to her granddaughter-in-law Duchess Kate. The Queen has handed over a patronage with British charity Family Action to the Duchess of Cambridge. The announcement was made official on Wednesday morning as the Duchess attended her first event as royal patron at Peterley Manor Farm in Buckinghamshire, England, joining parents and children for Christmas-themed activities like decorating and making eco-friendly reindeer food. Founded in 1869, Family Action provides practical, emotional and financial support for families in need. The Duchess first visited the organisation’s base in Lewisham in January, when she launched FamilyLine support phone line. Chair of trustees Mary Fulton said the charity is “honoured” to have the Duchess’ support. “Her keen interest particularly in the Early Years fits well with Family Action’s provision of high quality perinatal mental health services, pre-schools and Children’s Centres across the country,” Fulton said. “Family Action looks forward to working with the Duchess in the years to come.” Queen Elizabeth assumed the role of patron in 1953, who took over from her grandmother Queen Mary.

After eight years and three children together, the royal couple looked just as loved up as they would have been on their first date night, a body language expert has revealed. Judi James says both Prince William and Duchess Kate, who are not a couple to publicly display acts of affection, exhibited “subtly flirt” behaviour that royal fans got to see at the beginning of their relationship. While their displays of love and appreciation may be a little more downplayed than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, James told<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html"> FEMAIL</a>, they still signal they have a solid foundation rooted in mutual affection. The body language expert noted a photograph showing Prince William’s hand on the small of his wife’s back appeared “gentlemanly.” “William and Kate aren’t known for their overt PDAs and they can keep their touch rituals to a minimum in public but this back-touch from William looks unusually tactile and affectionate,” she said. “His smile looks almost shy here and the splayed hand appears gentle and gentlemanly, although that raised thumb suggests intense happiness.” It was not the only snap that showed the royal’s looking starry eyed and in love that got James’ attention though. An image shared by Kensington Palace’s official Instagram page displayed the Duke and Duchess in their seats at the London Palladium during the show. “The couple’s mirroring is always tight, showing like-minded thinking and a subliminal desire to present as an double act based on two empathetic equals,” James said. “Here though they add some strong eye-engage signals, leaning their heads together at matching angles to do so. “The eye contact has produced facial expressions that suggest the classic "look of love", with a softening of the features plus a dimpled smile from Kate.’ Once more, a picture of the couple laughing in their box during the show signalled to the body language expert that they were both having fun. “Royal Variety performances can prompt some smiles from the royal box but here William and Kate are literally rocking with laughter,” Judi explained. “Again it is mutual though, with mirrored movements, suggesting a shared sense of fun.” However, what stood out to her was a snap of the couple leaving the event and heading back to their car after a long night in public. “When any smiling public displays have been an act it’s the moment a couple take their seats in the car that you’ll often see masks begin to slip,” Judi said. “But if anything Kate’s expression of delight appears to intensify here. The event also paid tribute to the staff members delivering the service all over the UK. However there was a certain misstep by the Duchess that royal fans couldn’t help but notice. Three-quarters of those who contact Shout are under 25, and the most frequent subjects raised in those conversations are suicide (37%), depression (36%), relationships (29%), anxiety (31%), isolation (19%) and self-harm (17%), the service says. Royal Family’s emotional gathering for Remembrance Sunday memorial

The Queen shed a heartfelt tear for Britain’s war heroes at a Remembrance Sunday service. As Britain fell silent, Her Majesty watched on alongside the Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge on the balcony of the Cenotaph in Central London. The royals saw the traditional wreath-laying service as Prince Charles laid a wreath of poppies on behalf of their 93-year-old mother as thousands gathered around in Whitehall for the ceremony. Duchess Meghan attended the event alongside her husband Prince Harry and stood alongside Sophie, the Duchess of Wessex and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence. Other high profile politicians were also in attendance including Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, Home Secretary Priti Patel and Commons leader Jacob Rees Mogg. A two-minute silence was observed across the UK at 11am. The silence was swiftly followed by the firing of a gun by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery. Over 10,000 veterans then marched past the memorial following the service. The Royal Family’s official Instagram account shared a quote from English poet John Maxwell Edmonds which read: "When you go Home, tell them of us and say, For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today". Duchess Kate's brother shares “first family photo” in beautiful post

James Middleton has thanked the public for the endless support they've shown towards him since he opened up about his sad mental health struggles. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the brother of the Duchess of Cambridge said he was “truly touched” by the “incredible support” he’s received since candidly calling his depression an intense “cancer of mind” in January. “Today I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for the incredible support shown towards my speaking publicly about my illness. Depression,” Middleton, 32, wrote. He is also diagnosed with dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). It was a scene many young children have imagined- a princess tea party with a real life princess. Duchess Catherine attended an important tea party set up for her at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital during the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Tour in Pakistan. The mother of three happily obliged to wear a toy tiara when she visited 7-year-old Wafia Rehmani, while Prince William playfully sipped out of a tiny pink cup “brimming” with hot tea. The young patient, from over the border in Afghanistan, is battling a kidney tumour but hopes to be a doctor when she grows up. Wafia showed the Duke and Duchess her own toy medical kit. “I was a big fan of my mother too”: Prince William’s sweet reaction about Princess Diana

Prince William has fondly remembered his late mother, Princess Diana, during his and the Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Tour of Pakistan. The royal spoke with a 14-year-old student at a government-run school in Islamabad when he a special moment took place. The young teen told the Duke she was a fan of the late Princess Diana, to which Prince William replied: "Oh, that's very sweet of you. I was a big fan of my mother too." "She came here three times. I was very small. This is my first time and it is very nice to be here and meet you all," he added. Prince William also admitted to the student about why he became an Air Ambulance pilot, saying he’d “always wanted to learn to fly.” "I was flying for a while actually. I love flying, I feel very free (and) I like learning a skill, I enjoy that. I can relate the science of what you do,” he said. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kicked off the first full day of their four-day long tour in the capital city and met with a number of school kids. The couple spoke about the importance of education, especially for young women. The couple then met with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was a close friend of Diana's when he was married to Jemima Khan. It was one of the most monumental moments in the royal family, but reports claim the star of the show was left in tears just days before the big event. In the months leading up to the biggest wedding of 2011, the royal union of Prince William and his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton, a royal expert claims she was left “in tears” due to never-ending speculation about who would design the wedding dress and what it would look like. Not long before the big day, Duchess Kate’s dress designer leaked and was spread all throughout the press. Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton was revealed to be designing the now-duchess' wedding gown, and though Burton denied the rumours, the Duchess of Cambridge’s big secret was out. "Behind the scenes I think that caused tears at the Palace because Kate had done everything she could to keep the wedding dress a secret," royal expert Katie Nicholl said in the new Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers documentary. UK papers reported the dress would be a perfect mix between the royal’s own design preferences and Burton’s high-fashion background however the look of the dress itself was still under wraps. Meaning when the big day rolled around, the world was astonished by the gorgeous gown. The satin bodice and long lace sleeves perfectly paired with her flowing veil and elegant, long train. While Burton denied the rumours of her involvement of the dress, it was officially revealed she was the designer the moment the Duchess stepped out of the car at Westminster Abbey. An old photo of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has gone viral after it resurfaced many years later. It was a special, intimate moment captured back in 2012 at the Audi Challenge charity polo match, in Berkshire. The snap was taken while the 37-year-old royal was handing out awards, and after turning to her husband, she kissed him on the cheek as well as her brother-in-law, Prince Harry. The image was posted to a fan page on social media, where fans gushed over the loved-up looking couple. "Those eyes tell all. They don't even have to say a word to each other as their eyes, communicate the intense love, adoration, affection, friendship, trust, respect, and loyalty they both share with each other," wrote one fan. "The most gorgeous photo of my favourite young royal couple," wrote another. Another added: “Beautiful love, beautiful family”. The shot was taken soon after their first wedding anniversary, and years before the couple would welcome their first child, Prince George, 6, to the world. After a busy summer filled with family trips to the elusive island of Mustique and family palace Balmoral Castle, Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge has returned to work in a fitting ensemble. Just days after Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, started school, Duchess Kate has attended a festival in Wisley, Surrey, to celebrate the opening of her third Back to Nature garden. For the special day out, the royal went for a fitting, beautiful floral dress by designer Emilia Wickstead, along with a pair of nude wedges.
